August 2020 Pride Chats – Education and Inclusivity in Schools

In honor of back-to-school for a great deal of the world (even if this year it’s mostly virtual and a little different than usual), the TAAAP Pride Chats’ topic for August will be sex education, inclusivity in schools, and education about aro and ace identities. We’re specifically focusing on what sex education should cover and how it can be improved, how aspec people can be included in school environments, and how to increase awareness and understanding of asexuality and aromanticism.

The rest of the Discord will still be open, along with the channels specifically to discuss the Carnival of Aros and the Carnival of Aces.

The dates are Saturday, August 29-Sunday, August 30. We will be open from 9am on Saturday to 11:59 pm Sunday. We’ll have voice chats on both Saturday and Sunday at 11 am and 4 pm. All times are Eastern Time.

The Ace and Aro Advocacy Project (TAAAP) is an organization dedicated to providing resources on asexuality and aromanticism to the public. TAAAP operates on a local level by working with other LGBTQ+ organizations in the DC Metro Area, as well as on the national level by working with other ace and aro advocates to further the national movement.

TAAAP’s goals are to increase the visibility of ace and aro identities, to provide resources on asexuality and aromanticism to professionals (e.g. doctors, mental health professionals, educators), and to support ace and aro members of society. TAAAP is closely partnered with Aces and Aros of the Mid-Atlantic, a social Meetup.com group for asexual- and/or aromantic-spectrum people in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
