Ace Week 2022: Sex-Repulsed and Averse Aces Part I

TAAAP has written about sex-favorable aces before, but a huge proportion of the ace community is sex-repulsed or averse – over 40% according to the 2019 Ace Community Survey. They face numerous burdens, as they have to contend with sex and sexuality in the world around them. They also must reckon with their own community – many well-meaning aces and allies over-emphasize the existence of sex-favorable aces wile neglecting to mention sex-repulsed and -averse aces at all.

October ’22 TAAAP Pride Chats – Ace Week

October is a special month, as it includes Ace Week, so the server will be open from Saturday, October 22 through Sunday, October 30. The overarching theme for Ace Week this year is Boundless Creativity – we encourage you to share any of your creative endeavors with us!

For each individual day, we have themes just to help prompt discussion, though you are of course welcome to focus on any topic throughout the week. The daily themes are as follows:

Event Guidelines

The Ace and Aro Advocacy Project (TAAAP) is an organization dedicated to providing resources on asexuality and aromanticism to the public. TAAAP operates on a local level by working with other LGBTQ+ organizations in the DC Metro Area, as well as on the national level by working with other ace and aro advocates to further the national movement.

TAAAP’s goals are to increase the visibility of ace and aro identities, to provide resources on asexuality and aromanticism to professionals (e.g. doctors, mental health professionals, educators), and to support ace and aro members of society. Please visit our projects page to see what we are currently doing to further these goals.

TAAAP is closely partnered with Aces and Aros of the Mid-Atlantic, a social Meetup.com group for asexual- and/or aromantic-spectrum people in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
